Caza Banana was commissioned to provide rental income to a semi retired couple in a rural location. It is a 42 square metre 1 bedroom dwelling with bathroom, laundry and copious storage. Located between a mango and a camphor laurel, it juts out over a steep fall in the land to provide stunning views to Mt Ninderry and the valley. It is a low cost simple building with large windows in all rooms to take in the trees and birdlife. It is a lightweight but fully insulated building raised above the ground to reduce excavation and allow overland flow during major rain storms. It utilises insulated panel roofing and polystyrene insulation batts under the flooring to improve energy efficiency. All lighting is LED and as the building has its own water tanks, all fittings are water efficient.
