Jacombs House

This 3 bedroom home started life as a bachelor's single bedroom beach house. Designed by Matt Brindley and built in 1994 in its original form, the client returned in 2006 to ask us to add 2 more bedrooms and a family room. His original brief asked for a beach house and he was prepared to experiment with us.

We designed an external steel skeleton with a timber enclosure suspended within, allowing future extension without being blocked by structure. Hence the addition was an easy carpenter job with minimal disruption.

The entry stair at the side brings one to the front door and into the vault ceilinged living room, looking toward the city through full height windows

Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, the front also looking to the city with an attached study, the rear two looking over the infinity edge pool, part of the original house.

The rear of the lower floor has a large family room opening onto decks along the side of the house and a terrace at the rear leading to the stair to the pool
